Questions about FamDesk
Plain answers about organizing your household and getting started.
Does FamDesk have a calendar?
No. FamDesk does not include calendar functions today, and it does not connect to or sync with a calendar. Keep using the calendar your household already has for dates and times; FamDesk holds the details around those moments — the people, providers, contacts, links, requests, and notes.
What is FamDesk?
FamDesk is a private family organizer for household details. It gives a household one place to keep profiles for children, dependents, and pets, the contacts around them, saved links to portals and forms, and the requests, notes, and follow-ups your household needs to handle.
What can I keep in FamDesk today?
Profiles for children and dependents (schools, activities, allergies, health notes, sizes, providers, pharmacies, insurance, and notes), pet profiles with vet and care details, contacts such as teachers, doctors, sitters, and coaches, and links saved as web addresses.
Family Desk keeps requests, quick notes, conversations, and follow-ups together. You can also invite trusted household members, pin links on the dashboard, review an activity log, and choose your own colors, fonts, layouts, and background finishes.
Do I need to install an app?
Open famdesk.app in the web browser on your phone, tablet, or computer. You can use FamDesk directly in your browser.
How do accounts and invitations work?
Anyone can create an account directly — no invitation or approval is needed. After confirming your email, you start your own private household.
To join someone else's household, open the invitation from your email and create an account or sign in with that same email address. You join that existing household instead of setting up a new one. Each member signs in with their own account.
Can I be part of more than one household?
Yes. You can switch between households you belong to from Settings. Each household is a separate private space, and you view one household at a time. Choose the household where information belongs before adding or updating it.
Does FamDesk cost anything?
FamDesk has a free plan. Optional household Plus is $4.99 USD per month and is currently available for paid enrollment in the United States. The two-calendar-month Plus trial needs no card. If you enroll during the trial, your first charge is at trial end, then monthly until canceled. Without enrollment, your household returns to Free when the trial ends.
How do saved links work?
Save the web addresses of school portals, forms, clinics, and other useful resources where household members can find them. Pin frequently used links on the dashboard for quick access. Sign in to each external service directly when needed; saved links contain web addresses rather than account credentials.
Who can see my household's information?
FamDesk organizes information in private household spaces. Invite trusted people using their own accounts. Household owners manage members and pending invitations and can remove a member's access; what a member can do depends on their permissions.
Details are in the Privacy page (famdesk.org/privacy) and the Terms page (famdesk.org/terms).
What is the difference between the website assistant and the in-app assistant?
The Ask FamDesk assistant on this website answers only from public product information. It does not access any account or household record.
Inside the app, signed-in members get short, page-aware guidance that does not look up saved details by default. Separate settings, off by default, can let it answer from information the member already has permission to view, or propose changes. Every proposed change is shown as a preview and is saved only after the member reviews and confirms it.
Can FamDesk be my official medical, legal, or school record?
No. FamDesk is for everyday household organizing and works alongside official channels. It is not an emergency or medical-alert tool, and it is not meant to be the official record for medical treatment, legal matters, or anything a court, school, or agency requires.
